Friday Funny!

This is going to be short, but sweet. Your Friday Funny for the week is not as much funny as it is interesting. Here's a little food for thought.

Friday Funny!

I don't know if It's just me, but I swear I've read at least ten articles and several blog posts about parenting and how we are all doing it wrong, or right, or whatever. The only question I have is why is anyone listening? Do you know this person giving the advice? Do they know you and your child? Why would you take advice or criticism from a perfect stranger? The saddest part of it all is the people who are reading these articles and blogs are usually already doing a great job being their child's parent.

Now, if you are still worried about your parenting skills and want more advice from a perfect stranger why not take some of mine. Here is a list of things I've learn being a parent to both boys and girls.

1. Feed your child.
2. Clothe your child as well as provide some kind of shelter for your child.
3. Love your child and be present in their life.
4. Teach your child by example to be the best person they can be.
5. Don't mess with other peoples children. If you don't like the way they are raising them , too bad. It's none of your business.  (Unless the child is being abused of course, then do what you can to find help for that child.) If another child is bothering you or your child remove yourself from the situation. It's not worth the drama of a confrontation. Most likely, if the person is so oblivious to the fact that they and their child are being rude and annoying, you aren't going to convince them of anything.
6. You know your child best. Trust your instincts. If all else fails call someone who actually knows you and your child and has your best interests at heart.
7. Parenting is hard, give yourself and others a break. No one is doing it right or wrong, most are just doing the best they know how.
8. Try and have a sense of humor. It will get you through most situations.
9. Naps are good for everyone!
10. Last, but not least, if you don't have something nice or positive to say don't say anything at all.

So now that I'm done with that please enjoy your Friday Funny and have a great weekend!

Friday Funny!

Folks I know this isn't going to surprise you, but we live in a tumultuous world. After reading the news it's all I can do not to move to the middle of no where and hide from all the crazy. It makes it even harder when you are trying to raise children with a high set of moral values. I want my kids to be honest, kind, patient, loving and forgiving.

To do this I have to be a good example to counter act all the bad examples they see everyday. The only problem is I struggle with a few of those things so I took great pleasure in watching the guy in this first video get schooled!

Sorry kids, I'm probably not the example when it comes to turning the other cheek because I think obnoxious people like this should be punched. Thank goodness they have a Dad who is better example.

Now, I'm not going to leave you with that because as obnoxious as that guy was I wanted to show that there still are wonderful people out there. This is a two video segment and you have to watch them in the order I posted them to get the full effect.

I just want to say how grateful I am for people out there willing to give and sacrifice. You give us all hope.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Funny!

This has been a better week. I have been able to get chapters one and two finished and I am half way through chapter three. It's been hard to let some of the dialogue go. My characters can be so witty, but in the end some things have to be cut out.

My goal this week is to get up to chapter seven done. It's all in my head, but keeping my mind clear long enough to get it down has been a challenge. I ran the changes in the story by one of my editors and she felt it was a stronger story line so even though it means starting over and pushing out my publish date I think it was the right thing to do.

Now on to the Friday Funny! This week I found this video and I thought of my eleven and almost thirteen year old boy. (His birthday is on Monday!) They will get a kick out of it because it's accidental bathroom humor. I hope they enjoy. Happy Birthday Big Pay!

This second one has been around for a while, but I chuckle every time I see it. They have some musical version that are pretty catchy, but I just posted the original.

Friday Funny!

It's been a rough week people. We have had more snow,  twenty plus inches of snow in the last fourteen days to be exact and my kids have been home for six of those days. Now don't get me wrong I love having my kids home, but I would have preferred to have all those days off with good weather so we could have gone out and done something fun. Instead they were stuck shoveling snow.

The second problem I ran into this week was with book two, Celtic Shadows. I was seventy thousand plus words into when I realized it sucked. (For those of you who don't know, seventy thousand words is equivalent to about three hundred and fifty pages.)  It was going in the wrong direction so now I have to track back to where it went wrong and start again. I have a feeling it might be the second or third chapter. That's the joys of writing; rewriting and rewriting.

Anyway, now that I've finished my complaining I can get down to business which is the Friday Funny. For those of you who don't know math is not my favorite subject. I can do it, but I cringe anytime I have to. If I would have known this was an option I would have done this.

This second link made me laugh, but may not be appropriate for younger audiences due to the inappropriate use of a hang gun. I believe in gun safety and gun education and this is a very bad example. So please be cautious when impressionable children are present.
