A Pain In My...

Back. Recently, I've done something to my back causing my hip to slip out of place and pinch my sciatic nerve. I went to the chiropractor yesterday and it was feeling better, but this morning it had slipped back out. The pain is running all the way down my leg. It hurts to sit, stand, lay and walk. I will be going back to the chiropractor again tomorrow.

The good news is I've been able to work on book two today, something I haven't been able to accomplish all week. Hopefully, if all goes well, I will have chapter two done by tonight. Slow progress I know, but with Honey wanting to be held all the time I'm just happy to get anything done.

Friday Funny

I would like to say I enjoy taking a picture now and again. I have been taking pictures for several years, but by no stretch of the imagination do I think I'm a professional photographer. I'm an a decent amateur. This weeks Friday Funny was found by my brother Jordan. After seeing several of these pictures I'm starting to think I'm might be a little above decent. WOW! Just because you have a camera doesn't mean you should call yourself a professional photographer.

Off To A Good Start

I am feeling pretty positive that I am off to a good start. I have finished the prologue and chapter one. I am now moving on. It always surprises me how easy it is to get lost in a book I'm writing and forget to do important things like laundry and making dinner. I will have to work on that in the future, but right now I am sitting in a messy house with piles of laundry to fold and I'm thinking it will all have to wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow is always a good cleaning day for me.

Sale of book one are still doing pretty good. I do want to remind you that you only have a week left to enter the contest. I have only had a handful of people enter, but it's not too late. Go out and read my book then leave me a review. It's that easy. If you can't remember the rules on how to enter the contest go back in my blog and read them.

It's Finally Here

I am so excited. My kids go to school tomorrow and I get to start on book two. I made it through the summer and what a summer it's been. Published my first book, got our first foster placement, and didn't lose my mind. The kids are ready although they like to pretend they don't want to go back. I am ready and will miss them, but I know they need interaction and structure.

Tomorrow I will be going over the prologue to make sure I still like it and then hopefully get chapter one done. Doesn't seem like a lot, but it will probably take me at least four hours to get it just right and then I will end up changing it later on I'm sure. I will have to work fast though because my goal is to have book two out by Christmas. Here's to hoping!

I Don't Usually

I know I don't usually post things on the weekends, but I told my mother-in-law that I would post this for her. If you have ever seen Toddlers and Tiaras you should watch this for sure. If you haven't you will still get a kick out of it.

Friday Funny

This week flew by, but I did get half of what I needed to done. That is truly a successful week for me. I only have a few more days until I get to start writing again. So many idea's running through my head I can barely keep up.
This is my plan for the weekend. Celebrate my daughter's birthday, finish list from last week minus the carpet shampooing (seriously people I don't know what I was thinking. I need to wait until the kids are back in school before taking on such a horrendous chore.) Monday: take the kids to school to find their classrooms and then Tuesday take the kids to school and start book two! I can hardly contain myself.

This weeks Friday Funny is compliments of Jana, Jake's wife. Thanks so much for sharing this site! Have a great weekend.

Pulling It Together

This is the week people. This is the week I start pulling things together to send my kids back to school and get back on a writing schedule. Although we struggled the first few weeks of summer it has turned out to be wonderful.
Our family has enjoyed going to the zoo, swimming at the local pool, shopping at the DI (our local thrift store where my husband loves finding the little treasures people donate) and then of course we got Honey, who we all adore.
These last few weeks have just flown by.I will miss the relaxed mornings we have enjoyed this summer especially seeing as Honey keeps me up most of the night, but even with that I am ready to get back on a more structured schedule.
So my plans for the rest of this week will be clean and organize so nothing can stand in the way of my writing.I have a mountain of laundry to wash and fold. Clothes to go through because my kids can't seem to stop growing and carpets to shampoo because they look disgusting and I can't take it any longer.
I have exactly one week starting tomorrow to get it done and then folks I plan to disappear into book two only to resurface when Honey needs to be changed and fed...and held and loved. That should leave me about two or three hours during the day while she is sleeping that I will be able to write. Wish me luck!

Friday Funny

Once again I have to thank Jake for spending hours on end finding interesting and funny things for me. He saves me so much time. Thanks Jake.

I read the first couple of these and they made me smile. I am saving some to read with my husband so I have not read them all.

*WARNING* I am not saying any of these are a good idea. Some of them may be a bit racy for some of you so if you are easily offended don't click the link. I will not be held responsible if anyone finds them offensive. So once again if you are easily offended just don't click the link and have a great weekend. (Mom, don't click the link. Dad, you should be okay. Love ya!)

Yep, Everytime

Anytime I take a break from writing and then come back I worry that I won't be able to write. It's seems silly once I get going, but there really is a true sense of panic at first. I am almost finished with the prologue for book two and the whole time I was writing it I expected to forget how to write.

Well, I didn't forget and we are well on our way. I am feeling it again. The feeling I get when I'm ready to start writing again. I start thinking about my characters and they become alive to me. I love the little world I've created and most of the time I wish I could escape into it for at least three to four hours a day. The only thing slowing me down is the sweet little bit of Honey we are taking care of. She will be four weeks on Monday and my family is still enjoying every minute with her.

The first week we had her I didn't get more than two hours of consecutive sleep. The second week we had her I think it got worse and I got less than two hours of consecutive sleep. This last week has gotten a little better, but not much.

You would think I would be a bit bitter toward her for stealing my sleep, but I'm not. I love every minute I get to spend with her. It's funny when you don't know how long you'll be able to enjoy something how much more you cherish it. She truly is a wonder in my life.

Unfortunately, that wonder is also slowing the writing process down. I'm afraid to get to into the book to much because with my lack of sleep only half my brain is working and it's not the part I use to write with. I'm so glad I have the rough draft for book two already written or I may never get it done.

The good news is I'm already a head of schedule because I didn't intend to start writing until my kids were back in school. I still have one week left with them at home, but when my characters start calling me back I tend to follow the voices.

I know that sounds a little weird, but like E.L. Doctorow said, "Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia."

Has It Been That Long

Tomorrow my second oldest child will turn ten. At birth he was nine pounds and twenty one inches long.  He had and still has dark hair, a dark complexion, and one green eye and one brown eye. (Something he is very proud of, but scared me to death when I first noticed. I thought he was blind in one eye.) I wish him the happiest of birthdays and hope to celebrate many more in the years to come. He is a special kid and I love the heck out of him.

Time flies when you're having fun. I am very blessed to have the life I have. Nothing compares to having healthy children, a happy marriage, and wonderful people who surround me. I would never want to go back in time and do it all again, but I often look back with fondness. Even the hard times seem to have softened with time.

In two weeks my summer is over, my kids go back to school, my youngest goes to kindergarten, and I go back to work on book two. I often find myself thinking of Tristana and Aidan and how their lives are going to change. A new character will be introduced, a character I happen to love! This character was so much fun writing. Even now my heart starts racing thinking about. I can't wait to introduce this character to all of you.

Until then I hope you are all enjoying book one and telling all your friends to go buy it.  I have only had a few people enter the contest so if you haven't yet don't let the time go buy without entering. It's any easy one to win.

Friday Funny!

If you haven't already make sure you check out the Amazon.com gift card contest on my blog. It's for real, not a scam. I know I haven't been able to blog a great deal, but I'm starting to get into the baby grove now so hopefully I will be able to get more done.

This weeks Friday Funny is from my brother Jordan. He showed this to me a long time ago, but it still makes me chuckle. For all you Twilight fans don't get all up in arms it's just a joke. Have a great weekend.

Prologue or Not to Prologue

Now that book one is out and selling I decided it was time to take a peek at book two. It's been waiting in the background for two years now. I was a little concerned what I would find when I opened the file and after reading a few chapters I found I had good reason to be concerned, it needs a lot work people. It also needs a prologue. It will be the first thing I work on. I have a good start on one, but like everything else about book two, it needs work.

The good news is I think I have a title for book two. I won't be posting it just yet. I want to see how it feels as I work on it, but if I still like it after working on it for a few months I'll let you know what it is.

I still have about three weeks before school starts for my kids and besides a little dabbling on the prologue I probably won't really start working on it until then. I also want to spend as much time as I can with the precious little angel that my family is honored to foster while we still have her. She truly fills my cup. I can't imagine how I'm going to handle giving her back, but like we were told when we started foster care, "If it doesn't hurt you didn't do it right". I will be brave, but don't be surprised if I end up crying to all of you when she goes back home.   ;)
